Aeronautica Imperialis - Scenario - A Duel of Aces

Image
Background During the second war for Taros, Imperial and Tau air forces fought hundreds of engagements. During the war,  both sides have won victories and suffered defeats. Each side have their heroes. For the Imperium, it is Flight Commander Megana Ayce, in her Lightning Strike Fighter. For the Tau Empire, Kor'La Kae O'Ar, in her distinctive red Barracuda. The two aces finally met in combat over the Phyyra Heights. As Kae O'Ar led a patrol of the Red Horizon Cadre, she spotted an incoming Imperial attack. The two aces met head to head, and there would be only one survivor...  Forces Players can spend up to 150 points on their force. Both sides can only use Fighters. Bombers, Scouts and Ground Defences are not allowed. Both players must upgrade one of their fighters to an Ace for free. The Ace must be easily identifiable by your opponent . Set-up Players set up on opposite sides of the Area of Engagement. Starting with the winner of a roll-off, players take it in turns ...

Realmstone Raiders - Deck Review

Image
NEW VERSION Overview Realmstone Raiders is a Rivals deck for Warhammer Underworlds that introduces the "Raid" mechanic, offering a unique playstyle centered around deck manipulation and strategic resource management. Core Mechanics: The Raid System At the heart of Realmstone Raiders lies the Raid mechanic. After the first successful melee attack in an action step, you may "raid" a number of times equal to the bounty value of the target. Each raid involves revealing the top card of your power deck: if it's an Emberstone card, you can either play it immediately (if it's a ploy) or equip it (if it's an upgrade), provided you have the necessary glory. If it's not an Emberstone card, you place it at the bottom of your deck. This mechanic rewards aggressive play and offers a form of deck thinning, allowing players to cycle through their decks more efficiently. Objectives – Early Scoring Opportunities The objectives in this deck are focused on re...

Aeronautica Imperialis - Legions of the Horus Heresy

Image
Legions in the Skies: A Review of Legion Traits for Aeronautica Imperialis In my Faction Review of the Adeptus Astartes , I concluded with a concept close to my heart—splitting a Legions Imperialis Space Marine aircraft box between two players. The idea is simple yet elegant: both players construct air wings simultaneously, each painting their craft in the proud colours of their chosen legion—one loyalist, one traitor. Before diving into legion-specific rules, players can focus on learning the basics. And once they’ve mastered movement, shooting, and objectives, they can then layer on the thematic flavour and mechanical depth of the legion traits. The result is a beautifully balanced game, driven by tactics, not imbalance—your manoeuvring, target prioritisation, and mission savvy will make or break your victory. Aeronautica Imperialis - Faction Review - Aeldari - Asuryani

The Aeldari The Aeldari are one of the ancient races of the galaxy. They were plying the void long before humanity had even evolved on Holy Terra, and as such, their technology is highly advanced. The Aeldari’s method of warfare in Warhammer 40,000 relies on hitting the opponent hard and fast—then not being hit in return. Their aircraft in Aeronautica Imperialis follow this same principle. All their planes are fast, highly manoeuvrable, and armed with powerful short- to medium-ranged weapons. They also have access to some potent long-range firepower, which they need to soften up the enemy before closing in for the kill. Once in close, they should use their speed and agility to position for the perfect shot and make full use of the Tailing rules. Tailing is essential not only to maximise damage dealt in a turn...
