Aeronautica Imperialis - Scenario - A Duel of Aces
Background
During the second war for Taros, Imperial and Tau air forces fought hundreds of engagements. During the war, both sides have won victories and suffered defeats.
Each side have their heroes. For the Imperium, it is Flight Commander Megana Ayce, in her Lightning Strike Fighter. For the Tau Empire, Kor'La Kae O'Ar, in her distinctive red Barracuda.
The two aces finally met in combat over the Phyyra Heights. As Kae O'Ar led a patrol of the Red Horizon Cadre, she spotted an incoming Imperial attack. The two aces met head to head, and there would be only one survivor...
Forces
Players can spend up to 150 points on their force. Both sides can only use Fighters. Bombers, Scouts and Ground Defences are not allowed. Both players must upgrade one of their fighters to an Ace for free. The Ace must be easily identifiable by your opponent.
Set-up
Players set up on opposite sides of the Area of Engagement. Starting with the winner of a roll-off, players take it in turns to place an aircraft within three hexes of the edge of the Area of Engagement. Players may choose the Speed and Alitutde of each aircraft before setting it up.
Special Rules
Wingman

This rule can be ignored if the closer enemy fighter is at short range and the friendly fighter is not equipped with any weapons that can fire at short range.
Dense Clouds
Four dense clouds may be placed on the battlefield, players should take it in turn to place a cloud. A dense cloud is a section of 2-10 continuous hexes anywhere on the Area of Engagement; the total number of hexes a cloud covers is chosen by the player deploying the cloud. Each dense cloud must be separated from other dense clouds by at least two hexes. Additionally, hexes within four hexes of the defender’s edge cannot be chosen as part of a dense cloud. Dense clouds can be represented by marking off sections of the Area of Engagement or with cotton wool. Clouds are placed before deployment.
An aircraft in a dense cloud hex cannot be selected as a target by enemy aircraft nor can they target any enemy aircraft with an attack. In addition, at the end of the Firing phase roll a D6 for each aircraft within a dense cloud hex. On a 6+, the aircraft Stalls
