Chaos Daemons, the best army from Games Workshop.

Image
Why Chaos Daemons Are the Best Hobby Army Now, before some of you read further—I’m not writing this article because this army is the most competitive or the strongest (although it could be). If you're looking for an army just to win games, then Chaos Daemons probably aren’t it. I'm writing this because, in my opinion, they are simply the best hobby faction that Games Workshop has to offer. Why is that, you ask? The Legacy of Chaos in Warhammer Let’s go back to 1988. Before I even got into the hobby, Games Workshop released Realms of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness,  a book that introduced Khorne and Slaanesh (and yes, it also included rules for Grey Knights in Rogue Trader , the first version of Warhammer 40,000 ). I started the hobby in 1990 and was around for the release of Realms of Chaos: The Lost and the Damned , which covered Nurgle and Tzeentch. These two books laid the foundation for the Chaos pantheon, both in the 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms. I think this might e...

Thricefold Discord - Warband Review

Image
Introduction The Thricefold Discord are a trio of Slaaneshi Daemons, cursed to wander the Underworlds as punishment for their relentless bickering. Tasked with harvesting souls, they cannot return to their master until they have claimed six hundred and sixty-six—an ordeal meant to teach them the cooperation they so sorely lack. Leading the trio is Vexmor, the Excessively Indolent [1], accompanied by Vashtiss, the Coiled [2], and Lascivyr, the Blessed Blade [3]. Bound by fate and rivalry, they scheme and squabble even as they carry out their decadent duty, each seeking to outshine the others in the eyes of their dark patron. Fighter Characteristics The leader of the Thricefold Discord is the Vexmor, the Indolent. He has a Move of 3, a Save of 1 Block, 5 Health, and a Bounty of 3. His single melee attack has a Range of 2, hits on 1 Hammers, and deals 2 damage. Upon inspiration, his attack improves to 2 Hammer. Additionally, Vexmor makes use of the Indolent warscroll ability (see be...

How I Paint - Chaos Daemons - Plaguebearers of Nurgle

Image
Of all the Powers of Chaos, the daemons of Nurgle have always been my favourite. There's something captivating about their grotesque, despair-inducing appearance contrasted with their gregarious, almost jovial personalities. I've been collecting a Nurgle daemon army for many years, amassing a large force of Plaguebearers along the way. The classic green and brown palette has been a staple of my collection, reflecting the decay and corruption at the heart of the Plague god's followers. Despite their foul nature, I've always found a strange charm in these embodiments of entropy. How I paint - Chaos Daemons - Flesh hounds of Khorne

Image
The Flesh Hounds of Khorne are crimson hued half-canine, half-reptilian hunting beasts. Their blank-white eyes are hooded beneath hooded brows and their slavering mouths are full of razor sharp fangs. They have blood matted hair running down their backs and across their shoulders and around their necks are great brazen collars, forged at Khorne's feet.  This is the description of the Flesh hounds, I wanted to achieve in my painting. How I paint - Chaos Daemons - Juggernauts of Khorne

Image
In the Warhammer Lore, the daemon cavalry of Khorne ride to war on Juggernauts. The Juggernauts of Khorne are half daemon half machines, made of bronze and brass with fire for blood. I wanted to capture this description in my painting. As a result, this guide is mainly based on a wide range of metallic paints with a few fiery reds and oranges for good measure.  This guide is for painting the Juggernaut of Khorne not the Bloodletter rider. I did a How  I paint - Chaos Daemons - Bloodletters of Khorne guide a few days ago, this can be should be used for the rider. I also have a guide for Flesh Hounds of Khorne .
