How I Paint - Chaos Daemons - Steeds of Slaanesh

How I Paint Steeds of Slaanesh By Jon Grant, 23rd April 2026 For many years, I have enjoyed collecting and painting the various Daemons of Chaos. After rooting around in my pile of shame, I came across the Slaaneshi daemon sprues from the 2019 box set Wrath and Rapture and decided it was time they were built and painted. I am a fan of the classic paint scheme for all GW miniatures. In 1990, when I first started painting miniatures, Slaanesh was always associated with pastel colours. Back in 1988, Realms of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness was released. This book, which I own a copy of, detailed the forces of Khorne and Slaanesh for the first time. I used the description of the Steeds of Slaanesh as the basis for this guide: “Mounts of Slaanesh are bipedal, combining the appearance of a horse and an ostrich. They have two long, feminine legs, and a crest of vivid green hair runs the length of their back. The glossy fur on the legs and upper part of the body is a pale lavender colour, whil...

Thricefold Discord - Warband Review

Thricefold Discord - A Warhammer Underworlds Warband Review By Jon Grant, 17th March 2026 Introduction The Spitewood loomed ahead, its tangled boughs blocking what little light tried to pierce the shadows of the undergrowth. Even in Ghyran, this was a place where life had festered into bitterness. If there were whispers of secrets buried deep, they might linger here. A cloud of cloying perfume filled the air as the Thricefold Discord entered the forest, drawn by that possibility. In their endless quest to find their lost master, they sought sensation, rumour, and echo in all its forms. Even here, in this hateful wood, there might be a trace of Slaanesh. Vexmor the Excessively Indolent [1] lumbered forward, his sheer presence pressing down on the forest around him. At his side, Vashtiss the Coiled [2] wove subtle sorceries, drawing out the forest’s ancient malice and testing it for meaning and memory. Lascivyr, the Bladed Blessing [3], surged ahead in ecstatic violence, carving th...

How I paint Chaos Daemons - Feculent Gnarlmaw

Image
The Feculant Gnarlmaw is a grotesque daemonic tree for the forces of Nurgle. It provides buffs to nearby Maggotkin but cost no points in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. As such they can be overlook, even though they are an essential part of the army. The Gnarlmaw has a range of different components, each requiring a different paint scheme and set of techniques. This is my take on painting this miniature. Paints Required: Abaddon Black Administratum Grey Agrax Earthshade Athonian Camoshade Baharroth Blue Balthasar Gold Blood for the Blood God (or Blood Angels Red) Cadian Fleshtone Cassandora Yellow Chaos Black (spray) Contrast Medium Dawnstone Druchii Violet Hashut Copper Ionrach Skin Ironbreaker Kabalite Green Karak Stone Kislev Flesh Lahmian Medium Leadbelcher Leadbelcher spray ( optional) Mechanicum Standard Grey Mournfang Brown Nuln Oil Pallid Wych Flesh Poxwalker (used as a glaze, could be any similar tone) Rakarth Flesh Reikland Fleshshade Rhinox Hide Screamer Pink Screaming Skull Ser...
