How I Paint - Knives of the Crone

How I Paint - Daughters of Khaine - Knives of the Crone by Jon Grant 30th May 2025 The Knives of the Crone are a sub-sect of Daughters of Khaine. Unlike their sisters they do not worship Khaine, instead they follow Morai-Heg, the Crone. I wanted this warband to match my other Daughters of Khaine warbands, but at the same time shift away from the bright blood reds and move to the blacks, greys and dark red-purple more in line with the Crows. You can see my Daughters of Khaine warbands on the following pages: Morgweath's Bladecoven - Beastgrave Gryselle's Arenai - Gnarlwood The Shadeborn - Nethermaze My painting guide for the Daughters of Khaine - Wych Aelves . Knives of the Crone - Warband Review

Image
Updated February 2026 They are led by the seer Kaerna Vix [1], who reads the viscera of slain foes to glean her deity’s desires. A cadre of killers ensure Vix’s visions come to pass: Tazari [2] is Kaerna’s strong right hand, while Krieta [3] eagerly butchers those who draw her master’s gaze. Finally, the arbalist Azphel [4] stands ready to put a crossbow bolt through distant foes. Fighter Characteristics All fighters in the warband have Move 4, which is standard for Aelves. The team is made up of three fighters with 4 Health and one with 3 Health. The leader, Vix , has 4 Health, starts on 2 Dodge, and gives up 2 Bounty. Her single melee attack is Range 1, hitting on 2 Hammers for 2 Damage. It’s a functional stat line, but nothing standout. When inspired, she gains an extra dice on her attack, improving it to 3 Hammers. She’s the least critical fighter to inspire, though the accuracy boost can still be helpful when needed. Tazari also has 4 Health and starts on 1 Dodge, giving up...

How I paint - Daughters of Khaine - Witch Aelves

How I Paint Daughters of Khaine - Witch Aelves by Jon Grant 13th December 2023 updated May 2025 I am a big fan of Aelves in Warhammer Underworlds. I also like to paint with a classic palette of colours for each race. So far, I have painted my Lumineth in Blue & White and my Kurnothi in Green & Brown. The Daughters of Khaine are effectively a death cult. As such, I wanted to represent this in their paint scheme. My Witch Aelves from Morgwaeth's Blade Coven are going to be painted in Red and Black, which will then be a counter point to my Lumineth.  I was really pleased to have my Blade Coven shown on Warhammer Hobby Round Up back in November of 2020. I recently completed a painting guide for the Knives of the Crone , the Daughters of Khaine warband for Warhammer Underworlds: Embergard.  More of my  How to paint... articles  can be found here.
