Aeronautica Imperialis - Scenario - Titan Hunter
Titan Hunter - A new mission for Aeronautica Imperialis.
An unofficial mission for Aeronautica Imperialis in which opposing air forces attempt to take out opponents ground forces.
Background
During the First Taros War, combined Imperial forces consisting of Tallarn Tank Regiments, Adeptus Astartes strike forces and a pair of Warhound Titans advanced across the Iracunda Isthmus. Initially, the Imperial offensive swept aside Tau resistance, with the Warhounds engaging Hammerhead formations from extreme range.
Then the Tau struck back. Tiger Shark AX-1-0 heavy fighters came in low and fast, skimming across the desert floor. Missiles flared against the Warhound's void shields, while twin railgun rounds punched through its armour. Critically damaged, the Titan staggered backwards before crashing to the ground.
Although the Imperial offensive ultimately achieved its objective, advancing nearly fifty kilometres into Tau territory, the destruction of the Warhound demonstrated the decisive effect air power could have upon even the mightiest war machines.

Forces
Players can spend up to 150 points on their force.
Both sides may include Fighters, Bombers and Scouts. Each player must include at least one Fighter and at least one Bomber.
Ground Defences may not be selected.
Set-Up
Players deploy on opposite sides of the Area of Engagement.
Beginning with the winner of a roll-off, players take turns placing one aircraft within three hexes of their table edge.
Players may choose the Speed and Altitude of each aircraft before deployment.
Special Rules
Reserves
Each player must keep at least 25% of the total points value of their force in Reserve.
Ground Targets
Before setting up any aircraft, each player places six Ground Targets between three and ten hexes from their edge of the Area of Engagement.
Ground Targets may not be placed adjacent to another Ground Target controlled by the same player.
These represent armoured vehicles, supply convoys, command posts and other strategic assets.
- Ground Targets cannot move.
- Ground Targets cannot attack.
- Ground Targets have 2 Structure Points.
- Ground Targets are worth 10 Victory Points when destroyed.
No Victory Points are awarded for damaging a Ground Target that survives the battle.
Scout Titans
Instead of six Ground Targets, a player may deploy:
- One Scout Titan.
The Scout Titan has 10 Structure Points and is worth 80 Victory Points if destroyed.
The Scout Titan may not move or attack. It represents a Warhound Titan, Ta'unar Supremacy Armour, Gargant equivalent, Revenant Titan or similar strategic asset appropriate to the player's faction.
Legions Imperialis miniatures or suitable counters may be used to represent Titans and Ground Targets.
Optional Rule: Void Shields
Some Titans are protected by powerful Void Shield generators capable of deflecting attacks delivered from high altitude.
Whenever a Scout Titan suffers damage from an aircraft at Altitude 2 or greater, roll a D6 for each point of damage inflicted. On a result of 4+, that point of damage is ignored.
Damage inflicted by aircraft at Altitude 1 bypasses the Void Shields and is resolved normally.
Victory Conditions
The battle lasts for 8 turns, or until one player has destroyed all of their opponent's Ground Targets and Titans.
When the game ends, calculate Victory Points to determine the winner.
- Ground Target destroyed: 10 Victory Points.
- Scout Titan destroyed: 80 Victory Points.
The player with the most Victory Points is the winner.
