Hobby Goals - February
On the 1st of February, I bought the Necron aircraft for Aeronautica Imperialis (AI). Instantly, I could not complete the 'Do not buy any new miniatures for a month'. I could, however, complete 'Paint more miniatures in a month than are bought'. To do this I would need to paint at least nine miniatures because I also bought a Bloodmaster, Herald of Khorne as I would like to make my Khorne Daemons into an independent army. At the moment they are a tag-on to my Nurgle Daemon army. At the end of February, I also bought a Feculent Gnarlmaw. This will be painted in March.
While waiting for my Necron aircraft to arrive, I painted up Ultron, from the Marvel Crisis Protocol (MCP) core set. I am really pleased I did, as I used him in my first game of MCP, against Robin from the Agents of Sigmar. I then painted up Baron Zemo, I do like Zemo having watched him in the various Marvel films and series.
After painting my Bloodmaster (see below), I decided to use the red daemon skin scheme to paint the Red Skull. Additionally, with the Red Skull finished I had completed a third 'Paint a Marvel Crisis Protocol affiliated team', the Cabal.
As soon as the Necron flyers arrived I built them. I thought the Doom Scythe could be built as Night Scythe; I was wrong. So, I built my four Doom Scythes and two Night Shrouds and painted them all by the end of the first weekend in February. I made a 'How I paint Aeronautica Imperialis - Necrons' guide.
Next, I was onto one of my other hobby goals, 'Paint a unit for one of my existing armies'. Last year, I bought a fair number of issues of the Mortal Realms Magazine, as this was a cheaper way to build up my Nighthaunt army. I still had several primed models, in a box, in the loft. So, I got them out and began work on ten Grimghast Reapers and five Bladeghiest Revenants. For the Grimghast Reapers, I used my 'How I paint Nighthaunts'. After finishing the ten Reapers, I wanted a change from my Nighthaunts. Next, I decided to paint up the Bloodmaster, Herald of Khorne, that I had bought earlier in the month. It was nice returning to one of my old 'How I paint Chaos daemons- Bloodletters' articles and painting up a new miniature. I used this red skin tone for the Red Skull from MCP (see above).
I recently bought some new paints; a set of Army Painter metallic paints and I was itching to try them on something. I decided to paint up Thundrik's Profiteers, a Warhammer Underworlds warband of Kharadron Overlords Duardin, from the second season of the game, Nightvault. I have had these miniatures for a couple of years now and I decide it was time to paint them. I started with the simplest miniature first, to sort out my paint scheme. While, I have not yet completed my 'Paint a Warhammer Underworlds warband'. I have at least made a start. I even managed to make a 'How to paint - Kharadron Overlords'.
Well done Jon, you're making great progress with your goals. Plus your miniatures all look stunning as always!
ReplyDeleteThank you DBrown. So far, these have been a really nice set of hobby goals. It is always nice to hear comments about my painting.
DeleteGreat work Jon! One day I'll be a hobbyist instead of an accumulator of plastic haha. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThank you Crotonhurst. It is quite cathartic reducing the pile of unpainted miniatures. It is also nice on the wallet!
