Hobby Goals - January
February →
I made satisfactory progress with my hobby goals in January. I managed to paint a total of 17 miniatures and bought nothing except a few paints. So, immediately, I was able to tick off 'Paint more miniatures in a month than are bought' and 'Do not buy any new miniatures for a month'. These two items are a major part of my goals for the year. I ultimately want to reduce the amount of unpainted plastic I have.
In January, I focused my painting on miniatures for Aeronautica Imperialis (AI) and Marvel Crisis Protocol. My first aim was to finish the one remaining miniature I had for the Tau Empire in AI, the Swiftfire Platform. With that complete, I had finished my AI Tau force. After this, I then switched to painting the Imperial Navy. I had some Thunderbolt fighters and a pair of Marauder Destroyers. I want to paint one of my Thunderbolts as an 'ace' pilot. Finally, I had an Ork 'Eavy Bomber left sitting in the box. As I am trying to paint up my backlog, I decided to get this miniature painted. I went a little overboard on painting checks on this aircraft, they just seemed right. With all these planes painted, I could now tick-off the 'Tau' from 'Paint one of each aircraft and ground defence for Aeronautica Imperialis'. Additionally, I have also made substantial progress towards completing the Imperial Navy and the Orks.
Interspersed with my AI painting, I started working through my Marvel Crisis Protocol (MCP) miniatures. These miniatures are great, and there is something nice about having your favourite characters from the Marvel Universe on your painting table. It was not until I started painting these miniature, that I found out how quick they were to paint. I started off by trying to finish an affiliated team. I already had Daredevil, the Punisher, Bullseye and Crossbones painted (I painted these about a year ago). I decided to paint up some more Heroes, with the aim of building an Avengers team. I need Captain America as my leader, but I am a huge fan of street level Heroes. So, having bought them at Christmas, I went to work on Luke Cage and Ironfist. I also painted up Spiderman and Ironman (I am not happy with my paint job on Ironman). I could now tick-off the ‘Avengers’ from 'Paint a Marvel Crisis Protocol affliated team’. With the good guys done, I needed some baddies. Doctor Octopus, Taskmaster and Kingpin allowed me finish off a ‘Criminal Syndicate’ team.
Overall, a solid start to my hobby goals. Next month, I will be buying the new Necrons for AI. I will be painting these up straight away. I want to get a few more MCP miniatures painted (Baron Zemo is calling to me). I am also thinking of trying to paint some more of my Nighthaunts, I have quite a few sitting in the loft already primed.
WIth that I will say goodbye and ‘Happy Hobbying’. Check back next month to see how I did in February! If you have any questions drop them in the comments below, I do like to hear from people.
