Hobby Goals - May
(Red items were completed
this month, purple items completed in previous months)
As May came around, I was focused on painting up the Gloomspite Gitz and
the Nighthaunts. In addition, I bought some Oathmark Goblin from North Star
Miniatures.
I started the month by painting a few more Moonclan Grots, in this case three
goblins with nets. How I paint Moonclan Grots
I then moved on to painting one of the Rockgut Troggoths. These are large,
detailed miniatures, and it took me a little time to work out a colour scheme I
wanted. I have started the next two troggoths, but they are taking a bit of
time to finish. How I paint Rockgut Troggoth - Flesh
While I was painting my Troggoths, my order of Oathmark Goblins arrived.
I bit up five test models and painted them up. I used a very simple scheme,
basecoats, a single wash and then highlights. How I paint Goblin Infantry - Oathmark
During May, other
thing other than miniature painting were taking my time and attention. I wanted
to keep painting, but I also wanted some quick and easy to paint miniatures.
So, going through my Nighthaunt boxes, I found some unpainted Chainrasps and Bladegheist
Revenants. I sprayed these up and got to work. I really like my Nighthaunt
scheme as it enables me to input small amounts of time and steadily make
progress. So, eleven Chainrasps and five Revenants later, my army continues to
grow, allowing me to tick off ‘Paint a unit for an existing army.’ How I paint Nighthaunts
To finish the month, I wanted to return to the North Star Goblins. So, I
finished off another fifteen Goblin Soldiers with hand weapons and shields, to
give me a full unit of twenty. I then painted five goblin archers.
The final miniature for the month, was my last remaining Ork Dakkajet for
Aeronautica Imperialis. How I paint Aeronautica Imperialis - Blood Axes
This month, I bought 45 miniatures and I managed to paint 46.
I am therefore able to tick off 'Paint more miniatures in a
month than are bought' for May. While this is not a big decrease of my
hobby pile, it is still a decrease. So far, this year I have painted 141
miniatures.
Next month, I aim to finish off some of the miniatures I have started (mainly
my Rockgut Troggoths) and then add a few more miniatures to my Nighthaunts and
Gloomspite Gitz armies.
