Hobby Goals - October 25
October has been a fantastic month — both for the hobby and for the blog. There’s been plenty of painting, gaming, and writing, and a few lovely milestones along the way.
On October 13th, my blog reached 100,000 views, a goal I’ve had since I first started out. I was absolutely chuffed to bits. It’s been great fun sharing my hobby journey, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who’s read, shared, and supported the blog along the way.
Then, just a week later, on the 20th, the blog hit 10,000 views for the month, which was a brilliant bonus.
Painting
This month, I finished painting my Pyregheists, a really enjoyable project from start to finish. The ghostly green balefire was something new for me, and I loved experimenting to get that ethereal, otherworldly glow just right. I even wrote up a painting guide (see below) on how I achieved the effect, in case you fancy giving it a go yourself.

With the Pyregheists complete, I turned my attention to building the Kurnothi Hunters from the new Spitewood expansion for Warhammer Underworlds. I decided to paint them in a scheme similar to Skaeth’s Wild Hunt, though I’ve made a few tweaks since I’ve learned quite a bit since Beastgrave was released. I’ve not finished the warband yet, but I’m enjoying how they’re turning out so far.
Gaming
The month began with Agent’s Con in Market Harborough. This time around, I decided to play more for fun than to be ultra-competitive. With that in mind, I took Blackpowder’s Buccaneers, a warband I’ve had a lot of fun with recently. I won’t spoil the results here, but if you’d like to know how it went, you can check out my tournament report.
After the event, I had a busy couple of weeks at work, so gaming took a short break. By the end of the month though, I found myself with a bit more time and several new warbands to try out. Once again, I set myself two main goals:
-
Keep trying different warbands to learn how each one plays.
-
Continue improving with Blackpowder, experimenting with different deck combinations and strategies for the wonderfully chaotic pirate ogor and his crew.
It’s been great fun diving back into games with a mix of old favourites and new releases, and I’m looking forward to keeping that momentum going.
Blogging
With a little extra time this month, I was able to get back to writing more regularly, which has been really enjoyable. I’ve posted a mix of reviews and painting guides, including:
It’s been nice getting back into the rhythm of writing, and I’ve really appreciated all the feedback and comments.
Finally, the blog received over 14,000 views this month, which is a wonderful way to round things off. Thank you to everyone who popped by to have a look. As always, feel free to drop me a comment if there’s anything you’d like me to cover in future, I always enjoy hearing what people are interested in seeing next.
