Aeronautica Imperialis - Scenario - Infiltrator Extraction
Extraction Point - An Aeronautica Imperialis Mission
Aeronautica Imperialis Scenario: An elite strike force has completed a vital mission deep behind enemy lines and now awaits extraction. Can their fighter escort protect the transport aircraft long enough to escape, or will enemy interceptors destroy their only route home?
Background
Far behind enemy lines, an elite strike force has completed a dangerous infiltration mission and recovered intelligence of immense strategic value.
Carrying a secure data-casket containing enemy plans and deployment codes, the team now waits at a remote extraction point for rescue.
A transport aircraft has been dispatched to recover the operatives and their priceless cargo, escorted by a wing of fighters. However, enemy air patrols have detected the incoming aircraft and are moving to intercept.
The transport must reach the extraction zone, recover the strike force and escape. If the mission succeeds, the intelligence could change the course of the campaign. If it fails, both the operatives and their valuable information will be lost.
Forces
The attacker may spend up to 125 points on their force.
The attacker's force must include a single aircraft with a Transport characteristic of 1 or greater. The remainder of the force may only consist of Fighters.
The defending player may spend up to 125 points on aircraft. Their force may include Fighters and Scouts.
Set-Up
Place a Landing Zone marker in the centre of the Area of Engagement, nine hexes from the defender's board edge.
All hexes within one hex of the marker form the Landing Zone.
The attacker deploys first, placing all aircraft within one hex of the edge of the Area of Engagement opposite the defender's table edge.
The defender then deploys all non-reserve aircraft in hexes touching their table edge.
All aircraft may be deployed at any legal Speed and Altitude.
Special Rules
Night Fighting and Bad Weather
The Night Fighting and Bad Weather rules are in effect for the duration of the battle.
Reserves
The defender must place two aircraft in Reserve.
Extraction
The transport aircraft must enter the Landing Zone and end its movement there.
If the transport remains within the Landing Zone until the End Phase, the extraction team is successfully embarked.
Once the extraction team has embarked, the transport may leave the battlefield via the attacker's table edge.
Victory Conditions
Neither side may voluntarily disengage.
The battle continues until the transport escapes or is destroyed.
If the transport successfully exits the battlefield via the attacker's table edge after embarking the extraction team, the attacker wins.
If the transport is destroyed before escaping, the defender wins.
The defender cannot attack the troops on the ground, as they are unaware of their location.
