How I Paint - Chaos Daemons - Plaguebearers of Nurgle

Image
Of all the Powers of Chaos, the daemons of Nurgle have always been my favourite. There's something captivating about their grotesque, despair-inducing appearance contrasted with their gregarious, almost jovial personalities. I've been collecting a Nurgle daemon army for many years, amassing a large force of Plaguebearers along the way. The classic green and brown palette has been a staple of my collection, reflecting the decay and corruption at the heart of the Plague god's followers. Despite their foul nature, I've always found a strange charm in these embodiments of entropy. Paints Used: Chaos Black Spray Zandri Dust Cassandora Yellow Reikland Fleshshade Ushabti Bone Lahmian Medium Athonian Camoshade Biel-Tan Green Druchii Violet Ogryn Camo Screamer Pink Pink Horror Blood Angels Red Red Wash (Army Painter) Averland Sunset Yriel Yellow Abaddon Black Agrax EarthShade Karak Stone Screaming Skull Pallid Wych Flesh Leadbelcher Nuln Oil Skrag Brown Trollslayer Orange Fire...

Borgit's Beastgrabbaz - Warband Review

Image
Introduction Borgit's Beastgrabbaz are the fifth Gloomspite Gitz warband to enter the Underworlds. This group of gitz is searching the Underworlds for Trugg, the Troggoth King. The warband is made up of Borgit Wolf-Killa (1), who leads the Beastgrabbaz. He is accompanied by Snagz (2), Hobblin' Dregg (3), Uglug (4) (a small Troggoth), and Rigg and Sham (5), who dress as a squig and lead Uglug around. Fighter Characteristics Borgit is the leader of the Beastgrabbaz. He has a solid set of characteristics with a Move of 3, a Save of 2 Block, 3 Health, and a Bounty of 2. His attack is Range 1, 2 Hammers, and 2 Damage with Crit Grievous. Upon inspiration, Borgit goes to Move 4 and 3 Hammers on his attack. This is an interesting profile, as, apart from the Health, his characteristics are similar to Ardorn from the Emberwatch. Ardorn is a highly effective fighter, suggesting Borgit will also be—albeit less resilient but with potentially a little more punch! Next up, we have the minions...

Hobby Goals - December 2024

Image
It’s been a few months since my last hobby goals update. Life has been quite hectic, leaving me little time for painting or gaming. However, this month, despite a packed schedule, I managed to carve out some time to make meaningful progress. Painting This month, I began by completing the three Stormcast Eternals of the Emberwatch. I painted them in my standard Hallowed Knights scheme to match my long-time favorites, Xandire's Truthseekers. With this cohesive look, I plan to use the Emberwatch as my primary warband in the coming months. After finishing the Emberwatch, I turned my attention to the Grandfather's Gardeners. As part of my larger Daemons of Nurgle army, I aimed to ensure this warband fit seamlessly with my Plaguebearers. My process started with painting the flesh tones across all the miniatures before adding intricate details. By the end of the month, I had completed Strewg and Squort and made significant progress on the remaining models. Gaming My first game this mo...

The Jaws of Iztl - Warband Review

Image
Introduction The Jaws of Itzl have descended into the mines of Embergard to prevent the plans of their Slann masters from being disrupted. The aggression of these cold-blood warriors has been peaked by the emotion-riven heat of the Emberstone from deep in the mines. The Jaws of Itzl are made up of  Kro-Jax [1], So-Kar [2], Ro-Tak [3] and the Venomites [4] Fighter Characteristics Each of the three Saurus warriors that make up this warband, Kro-Jax, So-Kar and Ro-Tak, have the same uninspired set of fighter characteristics. A Move of 3, a Save of 1 Block, and 5 Health.  Kro-Jax, the leader, has Bounty of 3 and is armed with a melee weapon (a mace) which is Range 1, 2 Hammers for a mighty 3 Damage. When inspired, his Save improves to 2 Block and his melee weapon improves to 4 Swords, significantly increasing his accuracy. Kro-Jax So-Kar has a Bounty of 2 and is armed with a melee weapon (a club) which is Range 1, 3 Swords for 2 Damage. When inspired... (this is unknown at present...

Zikkit's Tunnelpack - Warband Review

Image
The second warband for the new season of Warhammer Underworlds introduces the cunning and ruthless Skaven of Clan Skyre. Led by the devious Warlock Engineer Zikkit, this Tunnelpack has ventured deep into the mines of Embergard, driven by an insatiable hunger for power. Their prize? The coveted Aqshian Realmstone—Emberstone. This potent resource could tip the balance of power in the Underworlds, and Zikkit is determined to seize it, no matter the cost. At the helm of this chaotic warband is none other than Warlock Engineer Zikkit Rockgnaw [1], a Skaven mastermind who combines malicious cunning with brutal efficiency. Accompanying him is his eager apprentice, Rittak Verm [2], who pilots the deadly Kill-Wheel—a whirling menace that leaves devastation in its wake. The two are supported by a pair of Acolytes: the grim Krittatok [3] and grenadier Nitch Singe-Snout [4], both brimming with the reckless ambition typical of Skaven.
