The first season of Warhammer Underworlds: Second Edition was set in the flame-scorched mines beneath the ruined city of Embergard, deep within Aqshy, the Realm of Fire. Over the course of the season, six new warbands ventured into the blazing depths in search of glory, vengeance, and arcane secrets.

The Emberwatch

Grand Alliance: Order (Stormcast Eternals)

The Emberwatch consists of three Stormcast Eternals who have spent many years in the fiery, emotion-riven realm of Aqshy.

The warband includes the leader, Ardorn Flamerunner, alongside the assassin, Farasa Twice-Risen, and the marksman, Yurik Velzaine.

Zikkit's Tunnelpack

My Tunnelpack

Zikkit's Tunnelpack are a group of Skaven of Clan Skyre driven by an insatiable hunger for power. At the helm of this chaotic warband is the Warlock Engineer Zikkit Rockgnaw. Accompanying him is his eager apprentice, Rittak Verm, who pilots the deadly Kill-Wheel. The two are supported by a pair of Acolytes: the grim Krittatok and grenadier Nitch Singe-Snout, and the blast-vermin Tik-Tik.

The Jaws of Itzl

Grand Alliance: Order (Seraphon)

My Jaws of Itzl

The Jaws of Itzl have descended into the mines of Embergard to prevent the plans of their Slann masters from being disrupted. The aggression of these cold-blood warriors has been peaked by the emotion-riven heat of the Emberstone from deep in the mines.

The Jaws of Itzl are made up of Kro-Jax, So-Kar, Ro-Tak and the Venomites.

Grandfather's Gardeners

Grand Alliance: Chaos (Nurgle)

My Gardeners

Grandfather's Gardeners are a coterie of Plaguebearers devoted to Nurgle, led by the relentless Phleghmus. Their mission is to spread Nurgle’s garden throughout Embergard.

This small Tallyband of Plaguebearers is led by Phleghmus, accompanied by Slunge, Bug-Eyed Dripterus, and Strewg. The warband is completed by the overgrown Rot-Fly, Squort.

Borgit's Beastgrabbaz

Grand Alliance: Destruction (Gloomspite Gitz)

My Beastgrabbaz

Borgit's Beastgrabbaz are the fifth Gloomspite Gitz warband to enter the Underworlds. This group of gitz is searching the Underworlds for Trugg, the Troggoth King.

The warband is made up of Borgit Wolf-Killa, who leads the Beastgrabbaz. He is accompanied by Snagz, Hobblin' Dregg, Uglug the Troggoth, and Rigg and Sham, who dress as a squig and lead Uglug around.

Knives of the Crone

Grand Alliance: Order (Daughters of Khaine)

Number of fighters: 4

Playstyle: Mastery/Strike

My Knives of the Crone


The Knives of the Crone are the fifth Daughters of Khaine warband to enter the Underworlds.

This four fighter warband is made up of the seer Kaerna Vix, who leads the Knives. She is backed up by Tazari, Krieta and the arbalist Azphel.

The first season of Warhammer Underworlds was the start of a great game and an amazing set of miniatures. Season 2 would explore the Nightvault.

How I paint - Gloomspite Gitz- Squigs

When collecting Gloomspite Gitz it quickly becomes apparent that at some point you are going to paint squigs. This is my take on a classic red squig. Paints required: Wraithbone spray Khorne Red Army Painter Red Tone Averland Sunset Wazdakka Red Squig Orange Lahmian Medium Reikland Fleshwash Screamer Pink Pink Horror Pallid Wych Flesh Zandri Dust Agrax Earthshade Xereus Purple Genestealer Purple Yriel Yellow Druchii Violet .  Kantor Blue Thousand Sons Blue Ahriman Blue Temple Guard Blue . The miniatures were primed with Wraithbone spray. The scheme works over black, but you must build a nice sold layer of red at the start. This was then followed by a basecoat of Khorne Red . I thinned the Khorne Red with a little water. It took a few coats to get a nice solid finish. The miniature was then given a wash with Army Painter Red Tone thinned with a little water. How I Paint - Skaven - Clan Eshin

As I continue to work through the various Warhammer Underworlds warbands, I finally reached Skittershank's Clawpack. The Clawpack are a group of Clan Eshin Skaven. I decided to paint them in classic scheme of brown fur and black robes. Here is my guide.  More of my  How to paint... articles  can be found here. Undercoats The miniature was undercoated with Chaos Black spray . I then gave the whole miniature a basecoat of Mournfang Brown thinned, with water. Once the basecoat was dry, I gave the fur a very light drybrush with Karak Stone .  This may look a little harsh but the washes will fix this in a later stage. Basecoats The next main step, was to block in all the basecoats on the miniature. I began with the flesh on the nose, ears, hands and feet. This was painted with a 1:1 mix of Bugman's Glow and Cadian Fleshtone . I made sure to feather the edges between the fur and flesh on the hands and feet. How I Paint Zombie Flesh

Zombies have been a staple of many Fantasy and Science Fiction setting for years. Warhammer is no exception. Over the years, I have mainly collected Undead armies for Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Age of Sigmar. Back when I had a Vampire Counts army, I had many hordes of Zombies. Now, I am looking to paint my Exiled Dead warband from Warhammer Underworlds. To do this, I decided to do some research on the Internet. I know I have ‘stolen’ these ideas from somewhere, but I wrote them done and cannot remember where I got them from. All the zombies were given an undercoat of  Chaos Black spray . I then gave the miniatures a light dusting with Zandri Dust spray . This will make applying the basecoats easier. Zombie #1 The flesh of the first zombie (or I this case Prentice Marcov) was given a basecoat of Mechanicum Standard Grey . When this was dry the miniature was washed with Reikland Fleshshade .
