Emberstone Sentinels - Deck Review

Image
NEW VERSION The Emberstone Sentinels Rivals deck for Warhammer Underworlds is a deck focused on the Take and Hold playstyle. It rewards positional play, careful movement, and an ability to stick to remain on Treasure tokens. This makes it a slower-paced, but thoughtful deck that rewards players who can outmanoeuvre their opponents and maintain presence on objective hexes. It is not about eliminating your opponent.  Objectives – Hold Your Ground The deck contains the usual 12 objectives: 6 surges and 6 end-phase cards, with a total potential of 16 glory. Nine cards score for 1 glory, two score 2 glory and one scores 3 glory. The deck is about building towards consistency rather than big moments. Stand-out Objectives include: Sally Forth:  Score for making a Charge action onto a treasure token. Nice and easy early-game tick. Unassailable:  Your opponent is going to try and knock you off Treasure tokens. Nothing is better in Underworlds than when you score glory for ...

How I Paint - Terrain - Aged Bone

Image
I’ve really enjoyed painting the Azyrite Ruins and other terrain features for Warcry and Age of Sigmar . I’m starting to build up a solid collection of pieces, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the table come to life. In this article, I’m focusing on the bone components of my Warcry terrain—specifically, the skeletons and skulls . Let’s be honest: if you paint GW miniatures, at some point you’re going to paint bone. There are literally skulls everywhere in the Mortal Realms and the Imperium. I sometimes wonder if the dead just get buried without their heads? Anyway, here’s a quick guide for painting bone that’s been weathered by the elements. I use this recipe for both terrain and bases. Paints required: Wraithbone spray Morghast Bone Athonian Camoshade Karak Stone Screaming Skull Pallid Wych Flesh Agrax Earthshade Optional Zandri Dust Start with an undercoat of Wraithbone Spray —assuming the piece can be painted separately. Then apply a base coat of Morghast Bone . If th...

How I Paint - Terrain - Wooden stakes, palisades and platforms

I’ve really enjoyed painting the Azyrite Ruins and other terrain features for Warcry and Age of Sigmar . I’m starting to build up a solid collection of pieces, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the table come to life. In this article, I’m focusing on the wooden components of my Warcry terrain—specifically, the wooden walkways and barricades . These differ from the wooden planks found on the ruins, as the branches used in these structures still have bark. I wanted these to look subtly different from the planks, and after a bit of experimenting, I’m really happy with the final result. The process is fairly quick, though a few steps require drying time.   Paints required: Skavenblight Dinge Dryad Bark Wyldwood Agrax Earthshade Rakarth Flesh Deathworld Forest Zandri Dust Ushabti Bone Screaming Skull Dawnstone Administratum Grey Elysian Green Seraphim Sepia Chaos Black Spray Start by undercoating everything with Chaos Black Spray . The wooden planks were then basecoated with...

How I Paint - Terrain - Rusted Iron

I’ve really enjoyed painting the Azyrite Ruins and other terrain features for Warcry and Age of Sigmar . I’m starting to build up a solid collection of pieces, and it’s been rewarding to see the table come to life. In this article, I’m focusing on the metal components of my Warcry terrain—specifically, the metal grates found in the Azyrite Ruins and the ruined eight-pointed Chaos stars on the barricades. I wanted these metal parts to look like they had been exposed to the elements for a long time, corroding naturally with rust. This effect adds some lovely orange tones that contrast beautifully with the grey stone, green moss, and brown wood. For this tutorial, I used a barricade miniature. I painted the wooden stakes first, but the rust technique can be applied to any metal surface you want to weather.   Paints required: Leadbelcher Rhinox Hide Nuln Oil Black Templar Agrax Earthshade Doombull Brown Skrag Brown Trollslayer Orange Ironbreaker Lahmian Medium Chaos Black Spray...

Agent's Clash - April 25 - Nemesis Tournament

Image
On the 5th of April 2025, I once again headed to Redhill, England, for another tournament hosted by the Agents of Sigmar. For a few months, I had been wanting to play Daggok's Stab-Ladz. After talking to Harry (aka Slippy), I decided to give them a go. In the week leading up to the tournament, I played two games on Tabletop Simulator (TTS)—one against Harry’s Looncourt and another against Pete’s (one of the Agents of Sigmar) Headsman’s Curse. I won both games, and in each one, I learned a little more about my deck. My Stab-Ladz My deck is built using cards from Countdown to Cataclysm (C2C) and Wrack and Ruin (WR). The strategy behind the deck is to dish out chip damage to weaken my opponent’s fighters before finishing them off with the Stab-Ladz. Additionally, the deck is capable of continuing to deal damage and potentially score objectives even if all of my fighters are taken out.
