The Jaws of Iztl - Warband Review

Image
Introduction The Jaws of Itzl have descended into the mines of Embergard to prevent the plans of their Slann masters from being disrupted. The aggression of these cold-blood warriors has been peaked by the emotion-riven heat of the Emberstone from deep in the mines. The Jaws of Itzl are made up of  Kro-Jax [1], So-Kar [2], Ro-Tak [3] and the Venomites [4] Fighter Characteristics Each of the three Saurus warriors that make up this warband, Kro-Jax, So-Kar and Ro-Tak, have the same uninspired set of fighter characteristics. A Move of 3, a Save of 1 Block, and 5 Health.  Kro-Jax, the leader, has Bounty of 3 and is armed with a melee weapon (a mace) which is Range 1, 2 Hammers for a mighty 3 Damage. When inspired, his Save improves to 2 Block and his melee weapon improves to 4 Swords, significantly increasing his accuracy. Zikkit's Tunnelpack - Warband Review

Image
The second warband for the new season of Warhammer Underworlds introduces the cunning and ruthless Skaven of Clan Skyre. Led by the devious Warlock Engineer Zikkit, this Tunnelpack has ventured deep into the mines of Embergard, driven by an insatiable hunger for power. Their prize? The coveted Aqshian Realmstone—Emberstone. This potent resource could tip the balance of power in the Underworlds, and Zikkit is determined to seize it, no matter the cost. At the helm of this chaotic warband is none other than Warlock Engineer Zikkit Rockgnaw [1], a Skaven mastermind who combines malicious cunning with brutal efficiency. Accompanying him is his eager apprentice, Rittak Verm [2], who pilots the deadly Kill-Wheel—a whirling menace that leaves devastation in its wake. The two are supported by a pair of Acolytes: the grim Krittatok [3] and grenadier Nitch Singe-Snout [4], both brimming with the reckless ambition typical of Skaven. Rounding out the team is the volatile blast-vermin Tik-Ti...

Warhammer Underworlds - My thoughts on Warscrolls and Nemesis

Image
The new edition of Warhammer Underworlds is on the way, and I am very excited! I started painting the miniatures for the game when they were first released in Shadespire , but it wasn’t until Nightvault that I actually started playing. Since then, I’ve become fully immersed in the game, collecting and painting all the available warbands. Over time, Warhammer Underworlds has become more than just a part of my hobby—it has become the centre of it. I’ve taken part in numerous tournaments and regularly play within my local gaming circle. The game’s fast-paced skirmish style, combined with tactical deck-building and highly thematic warbands, makes it uniquely compelling. So naturally, I’m incredibly invested in its ongoing success. From what I’ve seen so far, this new edition looks set to continue that success, and I can’t wait to dive in. Warscrolls and Warband Flavour One of the most significant changes in the new edition of Underworlds is the replacement of faction decks with warscrol...

The Emberwatch - Warband Review

Image
The first warband for the new edition of Warhammer Underworlds, Embergard, features the Age of Sigmar poster boys, the Emberwatch. This group consists of three Stormcast Eternals who have spent many years in the fiery, emotion-riven realm of Aqshy. The warband includes the leader, Ardorn Flamerunner [1], alongside the assassin, Farasa Twice-Risen [2], and the marksman, Yurik Velzaine [3]. Fighter Characteristics Each of the Emberwatch warriors has similar basic characteristics. Ardorn Flamerunner, the leader of the Emberwatch, has a Move of 3, a Save of 1 Block, a Health of 5, and a Bounty of 3. He wields a melee weapon with Range 1, 2 Hammers for 2 Damage, and a ranged weapon with Range 3, 2 Hammers for 1 Damage. Upon Inspiration, Ardorn's Save increases to 2 Block, and both his ranged and melee weapons improve from 2 to 3 Hammers, boosting his accuracy significantly. Farasa Twice-Risen, the assassin, also has a Move of 3, a Save of 1 Block, a Health of 5, and a Bounty of 2. She ...

What's new for Warhammer Underworlds?

Image
Warhammer Underworlds is back for a new edition! As such, I intend to invest more time into my blog and focus on this new edition. It has been months since we had any news about Warhammer Underworlds. Today, on the 5th of October, we received an update. At first, I thought I would do a run-down of all the items I picked up from the teaser video, but everyone is doing that. Instead, I want to share my own thoughts. I'm obviously excited about this new edition—this revamp of the game means it will exist for at least another year or more (GW tends to have plans in the works for over a year). I always get extremely annoyed when a game is discontinued, leaving me with hundreds of pounds worth of miniatures and game components that are basically useless. So, the fact that the game will continue is great news. From the card art images (which are now photographs, more on this later), we can see older warbands like Kainan's Reapers, Brethren of the Bolt, Khagra's Ravagers, the Gnarl...
