How to Paint Dead Wood

How to Paint Dead Wood on Miniatures – Terrain Trees and Weathered Logs This article continues my work on painting terrain, focusing on dead wood and tree bark. I’ve used this method for smaller elements such as tree stumps and fallen logs on miniature bases, but it works equally well for larger terrain pieces. I generally prefer my terrain to be slightly darker, as this helps brighter miniatures stand out more clearly on the tabletop. How to Paint Zombie Flesh

How to Paint Zombie Flesh on Miniatures  Zombies have been a staple of many fantasy and science fiction settings for years, and Warhammer is no exception. I know I have “borrowed” these ideas from somewhere, but I wrote ...

How to Paint Weathered Armour on Miniatures – Aged Metal & Worn Plates Over the past few months I’ve been trying to improve my painting by developing repeatable ‘recipes’ for different surfaces and materials. Most recently, I’ve been focusing on painting old, worn metal. With the release of the Kruleboyz, I decided to work on an Orruk covered in armour using Morgok’s Krushas from Warhammer Underworlds. New to painting Warhammer Miniatures → Start here: Warhammer Painting Made Simple For other miniature painting guides → Faction Painting Hubs These models are ideal for this type of experiment. The armour is made up of large, flat metal plates and chainmail, with the idea that Orruks simply hammer the metal into shape. It doesn’t feel like something they would maintain particularly well, so I wanted a weathered, beaten finish without heavy rust .
